CSP PLI Insurance Scheme
To maintain registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), all physiotherapists are required to have suitable indemnity insurance. The CSP PLI scheme offers two distinct insurance policies:
Medical Malpractice Insurance: This policy provides coverage for claims related to personal injury that may arise from professional activities and patient care.
Public Liability Insurance: This policy protects against claims for non-personal injuries, such as accidents involving slips, trips, or falls, that are unrelated to the treatment provided.

At physio247 we are accredited First Contact Practitioner Physiotherapists - with Stage 2 accreditations (which means we can assess joint, nerve and soft tissue problems before seeing a doctor). We have special training to screen for medical problems and involve doctors or other health professionals when appropriate.

We are licensed physiotherapists under the regulation of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).
Since 2001, the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) has established guidelines for professional behavior, performance, and ethical standards, as well as requirements for ongoing professional development and competency. These standards outline how physiotherapists in the UK, along with other regulated health professions, must ensure their practice is both safe and effective. The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy is the professional and educational body representing physiotherapists in the UK. The CSP plays a key role in setting standards for physiotherapy practice, providing professional development opportunities, and advocating for the physiotherapy profession in the healthcare system.
Here’s a breakdown of the CSP's key roles:
Professional Representation: The CSP represents the interests of physiotherapists at national and international levels, ensuring their voices are heard in policy-making and healthcare planning.
Setting Standards: The CSP sets professional standards for practice, ethics, and education, helping physiotherapists maintain high levels of competence and care.
Advocacy: The CSP works to improve public awareness of the importance of physiotherapy and advocates for better access to physiotherapy services within the healthcare system.
Professional Development: The CSP provides resources for ongoing professional development, including training, conferences, and guidance on best practices to help physiotherapists stay updated with the latest research and techniques.
Support and Guidance: It offers support to members regarding career development, workplace issues, and ethical dilemmas, as well as legal and professional advice.
Public Engagement: The CSP also works to promote the role of physiotherapists in healthcare, helping the public understand how physiotherapy can benefit their health and well-being.
As a member organization, the CSP is vital in supporting the ongoing development of physiotherapists and ensuring the profession evolves to meet the needs of both practitioners and patients.
